Wooded landscapes
c-prints 2009

The photographic series Wooded Landscapes takes the forest as its starting-point, showing illuminated timeless sceneries populated by people who can be either mythical beings or remnants of lost civilisation. Black Mirror is the first work in this project and shows a reflexion of a man and a women in a convex mirror. Their pose is taken from the Baroque painting Landscape with Salmacis and Hermaphroditus (Carlo Saraceni 1608) where the ancient tale of dual sexuality is reappearing.
